President’s Corner

Many of you have heard my story and know of my personal commitment to life. I truly believe that the care PDHC and other pregnancy centers provide across our nation empowers women and families to make healthy life choices. That’s not rhetoric for me. I’ve seen it time and time again. We’re talking about people’s lives, babies being born, and the ability of individuals to overcome difficult circumstances through the power and grace of our Lord. Pregnancy center work is about caring for women and families and babies saved.

But there’s something more-

We are standing in the gap between good and evil. It’s straight from Ephesians 6. “Our struggle is against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”  This is frontline work!

Planned Parenthood, NARAL and groups like Lady Parts Justice are dead set on keeping abortion legal and your tax dollars propping up big abortion business, but even they can see life is winning! With a potential seismic shift in the Supreme Court and increasing efforts by the public and lawmakers to defund abortion business, these groups are becoming ever more desperate. They sell a pack of lies about abortion liberating women while they take aim at pregnancy centers with claims that they are fake clinics.

We know better!

PDHC has provided crucial services to the central Ohio community since 1981. All services are provided to women and families at no cost to them. Women receive free pregnancy testing and ultrasounds by a licensed medical professional. This year women have received over 1,000 ultrasounds at PDHC. Each one making a life-saving impact and reviewed by an OB/GYN physician. Nurses educate new mothers about the importance of prenatal care and have given over 100,000 prenatal vitamin doses so far this year to support healthy moms and babies.  All this while also providing parenting classes, material aid, and a new initiative to encourage new dads in their important role as husbands and fathers.

If Planned Parenthood and NARAL had their way, voices like ours would never be heard. Women would only know the false promise of quick and easy abortion and the painful aftermath of loss. Families facing difficult pregnancies would only hear that life is damaged, hopeless and not worth it. Never would they hear, “this baby is fearfully and wonderfully made. You can do this. God is with you.”

I invite you to join with us in this important work. Moms, babies and parents need you, so they have somewhere to go for life-saving hope and encouragement. A great place for you to start is at PDHC’s Celebration of Life where together we will stand as a community and proclaim that all of life is Fearfully and Wonderfully Made. People are worth it. God is faithful, and we care enough to help others.

What a great time to be pro-life! So many of us are excited about a shift in the Supreme Court that may overturn Roe v Wade. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? Think of it, women and babies would be protected and abortion would no longer be the “go to” option for a difficult pregnancy situation. I think I hear the angels singing!

Of course, people would still need pregnancy help. At PDHC, we hear about challenging pregnancy circumstances every single day, but we also have the privilege of seeing parents bring in their new babies and being thankful for the help they received. I have never heard of a woman coming back to our center and regretting having her baby. I know of plenty of women who have regretted their abortions. That is why it is so important that people receive the pregnancy help they need to choose life.

We have made such great strides as a community of life! Politically and culturally life is winning. Nationwide abortion rates are the lowest they have been since Roe. In Ohio, abortion rates have dropped by over 10,000 in the past 10 years. Locally Franklin County has seen a decline of 33%, but the last Ohio Department of Health report still shows 3,158 abortions took place in our community. Even one is too many.

I am so grateful for our elected officials and right to life organizations who work to make pro-life policy changes, for social justice and advocacy groups, for a vast network of pregnancy help centers around the nation, and for all of you who support life in a variety of ways. We are making a difference!

If like me, you are wondering what more God is calling you to do? There are some practical ways you can help –

President’s Corner

What a difference a year can make! It was just a year ago that I was selected as the next President of PDHC and was given the honor and challenge of leading this incredible organization. PDHC has saved lives for 37 years, but the need is great and there is always more to do.  In the last year the PDHC staff, volunteers and I made strides to increase the number of more women, babies and families we help each day. We have worked hard, made tough decisions, taken risks and, most of all, trusted the Lord. As usual, He has proven himself faithful.

Last month we had more client visits than any other month in PDHC’s history!

I believe the Lord has blessed this work because we are seeking Him and we are good stewards of what He has given us. In the past year, we analyzed our client data and found that we were better serving women and families at-risk for abortion at several of our locations: North, Campus, West and Lancaster. We made the tough decision to close two other centers and redirect our resources. We went through a period of restructuring to provide more support to our key centers.  Now, a year later, we can see the results of these changes and we praise God for all the additional people we have been able to help.

We’ve also made a commitment to advertising. Women who need us can’t come to PDHC for help if they don’t know about us! The stakes are simply too high for people not to know where they can receive free pregnancy help. We have put our name and services in front of the people in central Ohio over a million times so far in 2018! Our community is hearing about Pregnancy Decision Health Centers and when they need help, we pray the Lord will bring us to their minds.

Throughout this time of change you continued to support this ministry. We are so grateful to all of the donors, volunteers and prayer warriors who faithfully serve women and families facing challenging pregnancies. Thank you!

I am absolutely thrilled to share that with your continued support we’ve been able to reduce our expenses and increase the number of women served in our centers. 2018 is on track to be the highest number of people served in our centers, and we can’t wait to see what comes next!

We promise to do our very best for the families we serve with the dollars you entrust to us. I ask that you prayerfully consider partnering with PDHC as a monthly donor. Your generosity provides for mothers and babies as well as PDHC’s new fatherhood program. Click here to make a donation or become a monthly partner.

Thank you!

I often reflect on Mother’s Day about all of the children who have been saved after their mothers came to PDHC.  I think of these babies as “spiritual children” and I hope you do too. I think of the ancient Hebrew midwives who refused to follow Pharoah’s order to kill baby boys. These children lived because of what the midwives did, or rather refused to do, and the same is true today.

Children are alive today because their mothers and fathers received help at PDHC. It’s a humbling and, at times, an overwhelming task, but I am so grateful to be a part of it. Together, you and I are a part of God’s great plan to rescue. What a wonderful Father we have! He rescues, He redeems, He restores and He uses us to accomplish His purpose. We see all of this and more happen every day at PDHC. We know how important life is to God because He is the Creator of life. What a blessing it is to celebrate life together and honor mothers and fathers, both the natural and the spiritual.

We celebrate you during this time between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Thank you for all of the ways that you care for and provide for children not your own. When you pray for a mother who is making a pregnancy decision or give so a new mom and dad might receive education and resources, or volunteer at PDHC, you are providing for families and children.  Whole churches do this by including PDHC in their mission’s budget or hosting a baby bottle campaign.  Families can do this together by participating in this summer’s Walk for Life! What a great way to teach your children to respect life. Golfers, we still have a few spots open at next week’s Golf for Life event at Scioto Reserve. These are fun ways to support life and family but they make an eternal difference!

You can find more information about ways to be involved by clicking here, or I would love to hear from you! You can email me directly at or call me at 614-888-8774 ext. 6121. I would be more than happy to meet or get you connected.

President’s Corner

Last week I received news that a pro-abortion comedian had completely castigated the work of pregnancy centers on his daily late-night show. I wish I could say I was surprised, but this is nothing new. Once again, pregnancy centers were accused of using trickery and misinformation to prevent women from accessing abortion.

One of the critiques we hear time and time again is that pregnancy centers locate next to abortion clinics to sway women to choose life. Call me guilty.

It’s amazing to me that this is even an accusation. Location is a commonly used and effective strategy to compete for customers. When was the last time you heard McDonald’s complain that Wendy’s moved in across the street, or that a Marathon is next to BP, or that Key Bank is next to Fifth Third?

Pregnancy centers do often locate close to abortion providers and here’s why – we want to reach more women who can benefit from our services. We offer a better product than our competitors. We offer hope and life! When the world is telling a woman all the reasons why she can’t have a baby and follow all her dreams, we are showing her how she can. Most women choose abortion because they feel they are out of choices. It is a choice cultivated by an abortion industry that diminishes the capabilities of women and the lives of children for profit. Instead, pregnancy centers around the country, like PDHC, provide compassionate care and practical support.

People walk into PDHC and stay because our services are the highest quality at the lowest price (FREE!) and we are staffed with helpful, knowledgeable, sincere people. PDHC is consistently highly-rated by women who use our services –

* 97% say they received the help and referrals they needed,

* 95% say that because of their visit they feel more confident and empowered to take their next steps, and

* 96% would recommend PDHC to a friend.

Every woman deserves support during an unexpected pregnancy. We want women to receive all of the support and encouragement they need, so we make help visible and accessible. We want her to find PDHC, especially when she is on her way to the abortion clinic.

PDHC has empowered individuals to make healthy life choices since 1981. Together, we save and change lives.
